In use
For the one with the cat jumper, the cat mug and the cat
You know who this is for. The jumper comes out on the first cold day, the mug has whiskers on it, and the phone is mostly photos of one cat asleep in a cardboard box.
From 1 December they get a small acrylic kitten for the tree every morning. By Christmas Eve the branches are full of them, and the real cat is probably sitting underneath, unimpressed.
Why it works
How December goes with it
One kitten a day from the first of December. By Christmas Eve the tree is full of them, and the cat lover in your life has had something small to look forward to every morning.
-
A kitten a day
Each day holds one flat acrylic kitten to add to the tree. Twenty-four mornings, twenty-four small moments.
-
A tree full of cats
By Christmas Eve the branches carry the whole set, a tree that plainly belongs to a cat person.
-
Kept for next year
Acrylic keeps its shape, so the kittens go back in the decorations box and return next December.
-
Easy to send
Light and packed flat, so it posts easily to the cat lover who lives miles away.
Compared
An advent calendar that stays on the tree
A chocolate calendar is finished by the twenty-fifth and in the recycling by Boxing Day. This one leaves 24 acrylic kittens behind, and they come back out every Christmas.
